Stephanie Gorin Biography
Stephanie Gorin is an American award-winning journalist who anchors the 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts on NBC5 and the 10 p.m. newscast on The Valley’s CW.
She fell in love with reading and writing when she was about seven years old. Gorin writes manuscripts, that she hopes maybe someday she will try to get published. As a child, Judy Blume was her favorite author.
Stephanie interviewed Oprah in 1998 after she chose Chris Bohjalian’s novel MIDWIVES for her book club. Oprah traveled to Vermont for her book club meeting. When her people tried to get Gorin to wrap up her interview after just a couple of minutes, Oprah told them to quit it, and she gave her thirty minutes of her time.
She has also interviewed Martha Stewart, post-prison when she had her own show. Gorin also shared a piece of pie with legendary actress Betty White. White was a guest on the Martha Stewart show the day photographer Jaime Brassard and Gorin visited the set. She is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Stephanie has a Master’s Degree in Children’s Literature. At school, Gorin got her start in Broadcast Journalism with an internship at WSTM.

She spent four years reporting and anchoring the morning news and then moved to Albany, NY, to be a street reporter for WXXA-TV. in 1998, Stephanie returned to NBC5 to anchor the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. In 2002, she helped launch the 5 p.m. newscast, the region’s first of its kind, which has been a huge success.
She moved to Tampa, FL, to report and anchor at a cable station, which led up to her arrival at NBC5.
