Patrizio Ratto America’s Got Talent
Patrizio the shy pianist, took the stage and said he was a bit nervous, prior to performing. His specialty was classical music and his set started with Beethoven’s “Fur Elise” and then added crazy dance movements, transforming the performance into an energetic dance routine. Ratto then finished off the performance at the piano. The unexpected twists to the performance were praised by the judges, especially dancer Julianne Hough.
Julianne pointed out, it was “unexpected” and Howie is right when he said they’ve “never seen anything like that.” It’s hard to tell if they actually liked the performance or just the surprising twist.
“Without people like you, we don’t have a show and my dogs don’t get fed,” Simon joked, before all four judges voted “Yes” for the unassuming young performer.

Patrizio Ratto Interview
Interviewer: How is the passion for dance born?
Patrizio Ratto: My passion for dance comes from a very young age. I practiced many sports, played the piano, and at about 9-10 years I discovered dance and started dancing together with my two sisters, both dancers. I was immediately struck by the dance: the more I danced and the more passion grew. Then I started having the first satisfactions, winning competitions, dancing on TV and much more, and from there I realized that that was my way. I left the other sports and I dedicated myself only to dance, training a lot, traveling the world and studying with world-famous dancers.
Interviewer: What did the dance enrich your life?
Patrizio Ratto: Dance has enriched my life both artistically and humanly and personally. Dance for me is not a sport, but it’s something that is part of me and I wouldn’t know how to do without. Thanks to the dance I met new people, many artists, I felt special emotions, danced on important stages. All this helped me to grow and enrich myself as a person and an artist.
Interviewer: When did you realize that you would turn your passion into your current job?
Patrizio Ratto: I realized that this was my path when I started having the first important satisfactions, to win important competitions, to dance on TV or in big events teaching doing internships all over Italy. Matching passion with work is a difficult thing but it also gives a lot of satisfaction.
Interviewer: You are very young, but already very well known to the public, having participated in numerous programs and also in “Amici”. What did each of your experiences give you?
Patrizio Ratto: I have participated in numerous programs, even different ones, and each one has left me fantastic memories and everyone in his own way taught me a lot. Friends maybe it was the most “difficult” program in which I participated because it put me to the test a lot, but at the same time it is what made me grow more, know new situations and opened my mind.
Interviewer: How much has your life changed after popularity?
Patrizio Ratto: Certainly Amici is one of the programs that gives you more popularity, and I noticed a lot about this coming out of there. Being so popular was certainly a very positive aspect, because it allowed me to be known, to show people what my art is and my passion. At the same time, however, it is a double-edged sword, because so much popularity can make your head go wild and block your artistic path. Fortunately, in spite of this I always stayed with my feet on the ground, I continued to train, to look for new inspiration and to grow. After Amici I never stopped under this point of view.
Interviewer: The last experience in which we saw you as a protagonist was the Dance Dance Dance program. What can you tell us about this program? What are the aspects you preferred?
Patrizio Ratto: Dance Dance Dance is a program that puts you to the test. We dancers were there to do lots of choreographies for each episode, each with different styles and moods. It is a program that requires a lot of versatility, technique and knowledge. It was very tiring, but also a beautiful experience. I improved a lot of aspects of my dance thanks to this program and to all the fantastic people I worked with within it.
Interviewer: Besides television programs, you have had the opportunity to collaborate with artists like Elisa, Giorgia, Alessio Bernabei and even Justin Bieber. What were your first sensations in working with such thick characters?
Patrizio Ratto: Collaborating with certain characters, great artists, but also beautiful people, was something that gave me great satisfaction and beautiful sensations. It was an honor for me to be able to dance with such great artists, share a stage or a video clip with them. And I am delighted to have been appreciated by each one of them, since they are people I respect.
Interviewer: Is there an experience that you have not yet made in the artistic field that you would like to achieve? Do you have a dream?
Patrizio Ratto: In my opinion you never stop dreaming and having new goals. I must say that I have had many beautiful experiences and received so much satisfaction in my life. I am never satisfied with what I have achieved, I always aspire to new things, because I think it is a way to grow and never stop. Right now, a dream I would like to realize is to let me know more abroad and be an example for many people like me who want to take this path.
Interviewer: What would you recommend to those who want to look like you in the dance world?
Patrizio Ratto: The advice I give is to study a lot, to try to know as much as possible and not to stop at the first difficulties. Every obstacle must be a starting point to move forward. Many satisfactions, most of the times, are reached only with hard work and sacrifices. Another advice is to always remain humble, believe in yourself and never be satisfied.
Interviewer: What are your future projects?
Patrizio Ratto: I am now participating in various events, broadcasts, advertisements and in the meantime I also continue teaching in different schools, but I have many projects in mind. Momentarily I resumed playing the piano, and I’m creating several shows and videos combining dance with music. There is also the idea of traveling in mind.
