Joy Reid Homophobic

Reid was caught in homophobic controversy when a Twitter user @Jamie_maz reproduced posts in late 2017 which were written between 2007 and 2009 on Reid’s former blog “Reid Report” which, as The Nation described it, “us[ed] the trope of gay sex to mock politicians and journalists.”

Reid apologized for the post which she called “insensitive, tone-deaf and dumb.” After reviewing more posts from her old blog, which she said she did not remember making, Reid asked lawyers to investigate if her blog or its archives might have been hacked, though Wayback Machine, where the posts had been found, said it detected no evidence of hacking in the archived versions of her site.

The second batch of posts prompted LGBT advocacy group PFLAG to rescind its plan to give Reid an award, and The Daily Beast to suspend future columns from her.

On 28th April 2018, Reid opened an edition of AM Joy with an apology. Response to her apology was divided along party lines.

In late spring of 2018, blog posts from 2005 through 2007 were brought to public attention. According to the Washington Post, Reid encouraged her readers to watch the now-debunked 9/11 conspiracy film Loose Change and appeared to promote the forcible relocation of Jews from Israel to Europe. Another controversial post, this one from 2007, used a photo-shopped image of Senator John McCain superimposed on the body of 2007 Virginia Tech University gunman.

In June 2018, Reid formally apologized, saying she had evolved in the years since she wrote the posts: “I’m a better person today than I was over a decade ago. There are things I deeply regret and am embarrassed by, things I would have said differently and issues where my position has changed. Today I’m sincerely apologizing again.”

The MSNBC network expressed its continued support, saying in a statement that some of the blog posts were “obviously hateful and hurtful”, but that they were “not reflective of the colleague and friend we have known at MSNBC for the past seven years” and that “Joy has apologized publicly and privately and said she has grown and evolved in the many years since, and we know this to be true.”

Joy Reid killer mike

In March 2018 Killer Mike gave n interview to the National Rifle Association online TV channel where he defended the idea that black people should own guns and joked that he’d kick his kids out of his house if they participated in the school walk-outs in favor of gun control. Joy Reid criticized him for what he said.

In April 2018 Killer Mike also tried calling out Joy Reid after she posted a photo on her Instagram and captioned it ‘And not to be outdone… @glamluxxe and @savvychicz, who rocked the H&M for our Elgin Baylor shoot! #AMJoy #GlamSquad’. At the time most people were against H&M department store which had used an ad that featured a photo of a black child wearing a “coolest monkey in the jungle” hoodie.

Mike commented on the photo saying: “So Me doing an interview about black Gun ownership with the NRA is ‘bad’ but u promoting a company that tagged a Black Child a Monkey is ‘good, cool, acceptable.’”

To which Reid responded: “H&M” stands for “hair and makeup,” Mike. The two women beside me in this pic did my hair (H) and makeup (M) for a shoot. The blouse I’m wearing is by @norisolferrari and I doubt you can buy it in the retail chain you’re thinking of. (I got it from the designer via a stylist.) And here I was thinking you were an intellectual, and not just the guy who hangs out in the sunken place talking guns with the NRA’s “official black guy” who literally changed his last name to “black.”

She also went on to say: “Also … who starts a feud in Instagram comments? Is your Twitter account locked?”
