Heather Haley Career
Haley joined the station in 2008 after a two-year stint at WYMT in Hazard, Kentucky. “From the beginning of my career, I’ve aspired to be as personable and approachable as Margie Ison, a long-time weathercaster who I avidly watched growing up here,” Haley said in a news release. Haley replaces longtime chief meteorologist David Aldrich, who announced his departure last week, saying the station “decided to go in a different direction.” Anchor Bob Yarbrough left the station as well, citing “a handful of things that we couldn’t resolve.”
Heather says growing up in East Tennessee is helpful in her forecasting, because it can be difficult for others to understand the varying terrain. Witnessing how the Plateau, Valley, and the Smokies impact the weather is beneficial. She says meteorologists often refer to our region as one of the hardest to forecast, but Heather loves the challenge. Heather can be found at community events and local schools on a regular basis.
