Giada De Laurentiis is an Italian born American chef, television personality and writer born on 22nd August 1970 in Rome, Italy. She hosts ‘Giada at Home’ at Food Network’s. She is the founder of GDL Foods, a catering business and a regular contributor and guest co-host on NBC’s ‘Today’. She was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame in 2012.

Giada is the eldest child of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and actor-producer Alex De Benedetti. Her parents married in February 1970 but later divorced. Her maternal grandfather is film producer Dino De Laurentiis and her grandmother was British-Italian film star Silvana Mangano.

On 3rd September 2015 their divorce was finalized. Giada was ordered to pay Todd $9,000 dollars in monthly child support. Their $3.2 million dollar home in Pacific Palisades was awarded to Thomas. The estate included over $300,000 worth of furniture and artwork.

Giada and Todd never signed a prenuptial agreement while signing the divorce papers which is why De Laurentiis was ordered to give Thompson half of the unpaid advances to multiple cookbooks that she currently has in the pipeline which includes—Weeknights with Giada for $2.5 million, Giada’s Feel Good Food for $2.3 million, and Everyday Pasta for $757,000.

Giada studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris becoming a pastry chef, she returned to the United States after graduating and worked in several restaurants in Los Angeles. The most notable restaurant she worked in was Spago owned by Wolfgang Puck.

In 2012 she worked as a food stylist, styling a piece in Food & Wine magazine which prompted the Food Network to reach out to her. She made her Food Network debut on 5th April 2001 with her daytime cooking show, ‘Everday Italian’.

In October 2006 she began hosting ‘Behind the Bash’, a program that examines the catering process behind big event extravaganzas such as the Grammy Awards.

She debuted her third show, ‘Giada’s Weekend Getaways’, on Food Network in January 2007. The show features Giada traveling to a featured locale and visits her favorite local culinary destinations.

She hosted ‘Giada in Paradise’ in June 2007 a two-part Food Network special featuring the two locales of Santorini, Greece and Capri, Italy. In the same years she also appeared as a guest judge on the third season of The Next Food Network Star. She won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lifestyle Host in 2008.

De Laurentiis and the Barilla Group launched Academia Barilla, an Italian gourmet line in 2008, it is Barilla’s first-ever gourmet celebrity product line.

During season 7 of Food Network Star she was a judge alongside chef Bobby Flay and during season 8 she took a new role as team leader of five cooks competing against Bobby Flay’s and Alton Brown’s respective teams.

She launched a line of kitchen supplies, exclusively for Target in early 2010. In June 2010 she became a regular appearing mentor to the finalists on the popular Food Network competition show ‘The Next Food Network Star’.

Giada opened her first restaurant GIADA inside The Cromwell in Las Vegas, Nevada in July 2014. The restaurant offers seating in the dining room, lounge, or outdoor patio with views of the Bellagio fountains and Caesars Palace. The restaurant has an open kitchen therefore guests can watch chefs prepare food.

The restaurants menu includes Italian cuisine with Californian influences, including “lemon spaghetti, chicken cacciatore, marsala herb chicken meatballs, rosemary focaccia and lemon flatbread and vegetable Bolognese rigatoni”.

They also offer Family-style, vegan, and gluten-free options as well as an antipasto station.

On 16th May 2018 she opened her second restaurant GDL Italian in the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, Maryland, just north of Washington, D.C.
