Three men from the Chicago area join ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ cast

At least three men with ties to the Chicago area will participate in the upcoming season of “Bachelor in Paradise.”

Manteno behavioral health specialist Kevin Fortenberry; Bartlett native Chris Bukowski; and NFL journeyman Clay Harbor, who was born in Libertyville and raised in Waukegan and downstate Dwight, were among several singles announced as part of the Season 6 cast on Monday. More cast members are expected to be revealed later.

“The Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown sent Fortenberry home on Monday’s episode. He was not featured much on the series because drama surrounding fellow contestant Luke Parker dominated many of the episodes.

“The person that’s making her feel bad is Luke, and it breaks my heart to see that she likes him that much that she’s not seeing that he’s the issue here. He likes to win, no matter what the cost and the cost right now is Hannah’s happiness — and sanity probably,” Fortenberry said in his exit interview.

Bukowski, meanwhile, is no stranger to “Bachelor in Paradise.” He placed fourth on Emily Maynard’s season of “The Bachelorette,” which aired in 2012. He went on to appear on spinoffs “Bachelor Pad” and “Bachelor in Paradise” and another season of “The Bachelorette.”

Harbor, 31, competed for “The Bachelorette” star Becca Kufrin’s heart last year. He eliminated himself from the ABC network competition after suffering an injury playing football during a group date with Kufrin.

After he left the show, he had surgery to fix his wrist. The Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars alum did not end up playing for the NFL this past season. He did connect with former “Bachelor” contestant Angela Amezcua. She last appeared on his Instagram page in February.

On “Bachelor in Paradise,” alumni of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” pair up at a tropical resort. Season 6 is scheduled to premiere Aug. 5 on ABC.

In the meantime, Brown’s season of “The Bachelorette” continues to air at 7 p.m. Mondays. Nine men, including Chicago real estate broker Dustin Kendrick, remain.
