Carrot Top Interview

Interviewer: How much has your show evolved since you first started developing it back in high school?

Carrot Top: Completely. It went from basic stand-up to a full multimedia experience: smoke machines, video, lighting, you name it.

Interviewer: What do you enjoy most about performing that keeps you motivated?

Carrot Top: The actual act of doing it. I never thought I would it this far or for this long, so it make you appreciate it every day.

Interviewer: How do Las Vegas crowds differ, if it all, from being on the road?

Carrot Top: Vegas crowds are totally different since it’s a mixture of people from all over the world; all age groups. It’s a complete spectrum. When I tour, it’s fun because people are making a night out of it. So I think it makes it special.

Interviewer: Out of the countless props you have pulled out of your trunk, what is the one are you most proud of and/or still cracks you up the most?

Carrot Top: The Wendy’s prop is classic. People still remember it and request it.

Interviewer: If you could go back in time, is there any part of your career you would differently?

Carrot Top: Maybe I would have stayed in L.A. longer than I did but I was out doing shows constantly, which ultimately has led to my success. So looking back, I’m not sure I would change much. I have been very lucky.

Interviewer: What have you learned the most from being a professional comedian?

Carrot Top: It is a more powerful job than I thought. You never know who needed to laugh. I always get letters from fans explaining that they were going through something tough in their real life and coming to my show to just get away from it was exactly what they needed.

Interviewer: Out of your various television appearances, from Space Ghost Coast to Coast to Gene Simmons Family Jewels, which is your personal favorite?

Carrot Top: My first Tonight Show appearance. The Tonight Show made comics feel like they had made it.

Interviewer: Given the current political climate, does that make it easier or harder to come up with new material and potential prop fodder?

Carrot: It’s always been the same. We always have pop culture but I’m not much of a political comic. i touch on it, but for the most part, I think people are coming to escape that stuff.

Interviewer: What is left to check off on the Carrot Top bucket list?

Carrot Top: Maybe my own TV series one day, a way I can be creative outside of my show. More movies would be fun, too.
