Bill Bellamy (born as William Bellamy) is an American stand-up comedian and actor. He became famous when he was on HBO’s Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam, where he created and coined the phrase “booty call”. It is described as a late-night call to a potential paramour with the intention of meeting strictly for sex.
On MTV, Bellamy served as a VJ and hosted several MTV programs including MTV Jamz and MTV Beach House. As an actor, he has been in films like Fled, Love Jones, The Brothers, How to Be a Player, Getting Played and Any Given Sunday. On the Nickelodeon television show, Skeeter, he voiced the character, Cousin Skeeter.
He had a co-starring role in the Fox Network television show Fastlane in 2002. He has been on the late-night E! talk show Chelsea Lately, appearing as a “roundtable” guest and also hosted seasons 5 (2007) and 6 (2008) of the reality show, Last Comic Standing. He also had a recurring role as Councilman Powell on the TV Land original series Hot in Cleveland. in 2014. In the 2005 updated version of the NARC video game, Bellamy is the voice behind the character Marcus Hill.
He is a host of Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes? show on TV One and is also an executive producer for it.

He had two siblings: a brother by the name Julius Jermaine Bellamy and a sister called Karen Bellamy. Unfortunately, his brother passed on in late November 2014. He is also a cousin of basketball player Shaquille O’Neal.
He went to Seton Hall Preparatory School in West Orange, New Jersey and majored in economics at Rutgers University.
