Aisha Mbowe Biography
Aisha Mbowe is an American Broadcast Journalist, Anchor, and Reporter currently working as a reporter and anchor at FOX 61 since March 2018. Prior to Hartford, Aisha spent two years at WCTI 12 in eastern North Carolina. She previously interned at WUSA 9 as a morning news intern and Radio One Inc. as a promotion and digital intern. She has also worked as a reporter for the campus newspaper, The Diamondback, as well as the campus radio station, WMUC news.

Aisha is a Maryland native. She grew up outside of the nation’s capital in Silver Spring. Although born in New York, Aisha spent part of her childhood in The Gambia. She is among the few Gambians that are working in the American media. Her information about the exact date of birth is not yet confirmed.

Prior to Hartford, Aisha spent two years at WCTI 12 in eastern North Carolina. There she started as a Reporter/MMJ at the station’s Greenville bureau before moving to the morning show as a Breaking News Anchor and Reporter. While at WCTI 12 Aisha reported on the historic flooding after Hurricane Matthew and the case of a missing three-year-old girl that made national headlines.
Aisha started her career in Hasting Nebraska as a video journalist. She is a proud graduate of the University of Maryland College Park where she studied Broadcast Journalism. While in school she completed multiple internships and was a part of the award-winning program Capital News Service.

Mbowe landed a job with America’s National Broadcasting Company (NBC) in June 2015. She worked as a video journalist for NBC Nebraska where she covered stories in the tri-cities. According to the NBC website, the young journalist discovered her passion for storytelling at an early age and is eager to turn that passion into a career in news reporting.
