Also, Terry Porter, a former Blazers player, and NBA head coach have signed on as a second studio analyst. Porter will join the returning Michael Holton — himself a former NBA player and college head coach — for the shows, which are broadcast from a studio at the Rose Garden.

Bjaranson, in addition to his studio duties, will play a key role in a soon-to-debut Blazers web venture, trailblazers.tv, where the team will break off some of the video aspects of its main website.

Bjaranson, whose title for the web job will be “digital entertainment program anchor/producer,” said he will team with digital content reporter Casey Holdahl and director of game operations Todd Bosma to produce a wide range of video for the site, everything from longer interviews with players to profiles of Blazers dancers and other features.

But Bjaranson, who filled in on Blazers games five times last year, said he could not resist the opportunity to work for the state’s top professional franchise. After all, he named one of his two dogs “Oden.”

Bjaranson has won numerous awards for broadcasting excellence, including an Emmy with Trail Blazers Broadcasting in 2014, being named the Oregon Association of Broadcasters “Television Sports Announcer of the Year” in 2008, as well as the Associated Press Award for “Best Sportscast.”

The Warrenton, Ore., native’s first taste of work in the NBA came as an intern for the Golden State Warriors radio network in 1995-96. Following that, he landed his first television job in Coos Bay, Ore., in 1997, before spending the next four years at KVEW-TV (ABC) in Kennewick, Wash.
